Who We Are

Founded in 1925, Teamsters Local 814 is Home to New York’s Professional Movers, Art Handlers, Warehouse and Race Track Workers. For nearly 100 years, Teamsters Local 814 has been known as THE mover’s union for NYC and the broader tri-state area. An affiliate of the AFL-CIO’s NYC Central Labor Council, The Building & Construction Trades of Greater New York, and Teamsters Joint Council 16 — Local 814 is the only union recognized by these leading labor federations for the trade of commercial office moving and its related areas of work — new furniture delivery and installation, floor-to-ceiling glass delivery and installation, office liquidation, furniture and record storage.

That’s why Local 814’s moving companies have a client list that is a literal “who’s who” of our city’s most iconic corporations and institutions — from literally delivering the light that shines atop downtown’s Freedom Tower to handling the day-to-day commercial moving for the biggest banks, hospitals, universities, law firms, tech companies, art museums, fashion and publishing houses.

Teamsters Local 814 is also home to New York’s Professional Art Handlers.  Whether at Manhattan’s storied auction houses or at art transport and installation firms throughout the city, Local 814 members ensure the safe handling, display and transport of some of the world’s greatest cultural treasures.

The third core jurisdiction of Teamsters Local 814 are Race Track workers who help keep one of New York’s most beloved and historic institutions moving.  From the Belmont Stakes to the Summer Meet at Saratoga Springs, Local 814 Teamsters do everything from transport the horses to make sure they are saddled and ready for action.

Lastly, Local 814 is proud to represent a variety of warehouse and delivery workers in a range of local industries.
