Long Time Moving & Storage Extras Were Beloved by Many in Union, Industry
Their Sudden Passing a Shock to Many Who Knew and Worked Alongside
This week the Local 814 family shockingly lost two long-time members. According to friends and co-workers, Mike Kass, the veteran mover who worked for many of our new furniture outfits over the years, was found deceased on Monday Feb 22nd. It is not know if he had any next of kin but he was definitely a one-of-a kind human and he had many long time friends throughout the union. He will certainly be missed — but not forgotten.
One day later, Patrick Hallissey, a long time Local 814 member who was also a full-time 32BJ member, reportedly passed away at his day job, at the building he worked at in Manhattan. Pat worked for Hudson and Central and many other 814 movers over the years and was known for his sense of humor amongst other great qualities. He was loved by a great many members that worked with him; for the better part of their careers in some cases. Together we grieve his passing and we send our deepest condolences to his friends and family, and especially his son James, also a proud Local 814 member. A true 814 original and a great friend. Many will always remember Patrick Hallissey. Details for final arrangements are below.
