New Contract!

On May 1st,  after serious and combative negotiations, 814 delivered a great contract for its moving members. The highlights were:

Wages:

  • $1.25 first year.
  • 95 cents years 2 and 3.

This wage increase surpassed last contract’s best wages ever.

  • We also registered a huge win in eliminating the C tier after 25 years!  New members will be paid more and have the ability to get medical benefits in as little as 6 months instead of almost 2 years for former C’s. We’re very proud of getting rid of the C’s.
  • Keeping the Cadillac medical plan with no additional cost to the membership. Every contract we fight off the owners trying to get us to pay for medical.
  • A pension guarantee of 36 months for non married members. We lost this benefit in 2010 it was nice to get it back.

The saddest thing is when a member retires and dies shortly after. This benefit supports the single and divorced members. They can allocate whomever he wants this benefit to go to should he pass away within three years.

  • Penalties for supervisors working. This was very important to members now instead of lip service from the companies we now have a fine.
